Foosball Tips

flossyb182 asked:

I'm hoping a good foosball player might be able to give me some good info here. My foosball table is a decent one, not a Walmart brand or anything and the table IS level, but noone can dribble the ball between the players on it. On other tables at bars or arcades we have no problem doing it, but for some reason you just CAN'T do it on my table, so my question is this: are there different types of players, or feet, that are more "standard" that i could get in order to make the gameplay a bit more fun? i looked on the bottom of the players and their feet are only held on with one screw, which makes me think that there are possibly different ones i could purchase. possibly ones that are more flat on the sides. i hope i'm making sense here to someone who might know what i'm talking about. any help and/or webpages anyone knows of to order different feet/players would help.

If you are having difficulty with passing the foosball from one man to another, and the table is level, then your problem might be the surface, and the foosballs. Do you have lightweight, white plastic foosballs with grooves (or without grooves)? Does your table have a hard and shiny, or glass surface? If you do, then your foosballs will be too slippery to catch and control.

There are many types of foosball players for various tables. Some players have smooth, square feet, smooth, wedged triangular, and grooved, wedged triangular feet. Your best bet is to use a grooved, wedged triangular feet with hard foosballs, and a hard surface, but not on a shiny or glass surface.

There are no “standard” foosball men that you can buy to mix and match. It is not like buying a car, and replacing the tires and wheels. However, playing foosball on a good table surface, with good foosball men, and good foosball is important. Is this a casual game for you, friends and family, or serious enough for future tournaments? Your answer can lead to sticking with your table, and simply, if possible, change out the foosball men, and foosballs. The other answer can lead to changing out the foosball completely, and costing you some real money.

What kind of foosball table does your local arcade use? Does your game improve on that commercial foosball table? Home foosball tables are nice, and cheaper, but the feel of the game might be slightly different from the commercial foosball table.

I play on commercial, Tornado foosball table at a local bar, on weekends, and occasionally, in local tournaments. You are more fortunate than I am, for I cannot afford a foosball table, nor do I have the space in my house.

Please check out the web site I listed for more information on foosball. On it, you will find most of the answers you are seeking. You will also find the rules, playing tips, strategies, and, yes, even foosball tables and replacement parts.

I wish you good luck. I hope that I answered your question.

    Aloha!
